Finding Careers Outside of Academia
3-5:30 p.m.
Memorial Union Century Theater
Paula Chambers, CEO of The Versatile Ph.D.
Sponsored by the NDSU Graduate School

3-4 p.m.

Join a discussion and panel presentation with Paula Chambers, a leading expert on career searches for students who have earned advanced academic careers. Dr. Paula Chambers, Founder of The Versatile Ph.D., will provide a much-needed boost of information and encouragement to graduate students in all disciplines who are thinking about non-academic careers, either by choice or by default.  After describing her own journey from a Rhetoric and Composition Ph.D. to the founding of The Versatile Ph.D. in 2010, she will relate key facts about the current academic job market, describe specific career paths that Ph.D.'s and ABD's have successfully pursued, and demonstrate the Versatile Ph.D. website, which is a treasure trove of non-academic career information for graduate students in all disciplines, but particularly those in humanities and the social sciences.

4-5:30 p.m.

Former NDSU graduate students and NDSU faculty will discuss finding careers in industry, corporations and employers outside of academia.  NDSU Alumni will share stories about the paths to their careers.
