Wednesday, April 16, 2008
7:00 pm
Plains Room, MU

Thursday, April 17, 2008
12:00 pm

The speech will aim to motivate people to get involved with breaking the cycle of despair faced by America's youth. After graphically laying out the overwhelming patterns of hopelessness and aimlessness of many young people, the audience will be charged to take action on any level possible, whether it be on-on-one or with a larger group. The issue of racism and how to affect change is the thread that runs throughout the presentation. There will be a special emphasis on involving the campus in the broader community. The speech will conclude with a message of hope by showing examples of people who, in spite of being faced by the harsh realities of life, maintained a life-long sense of faith and hope emanating from an ultimate conviction that anything and everything is possible.

Speaker: Richard Lapchick
