Diversity Council ::: Meeting Minutes ::: October 10, 2001

I. Introductions and Announcements
A. TOCAR (Training Our Campuses Against Racism) Collaborative update.
i. TOCAR will host anti-racism training on November 15 and 16. We are looking
for about 10 participants from NDSU. If interested, contact Sandy.
ii. Reminder: Anti-racism training for NDSU will be scheduled for April 4 at 7-
10pm and April 5, 8am-5pm. Up to 40 individuals can go through this training.
Trainers are from Minnesota Churches Anti-Racism Initiative (MCARI). The
target audience for this training will be members of the Diversity Council and
others whom we will identify later - we especially want to have students
involved in this.
B. Guest: Change Agent States for Diversity - Karen Zotz, Assistant Director, NDSU
Extension Service. North Dakota is one of only 8 states included in this project which
forms a consortium to address diversity and pluralism within those states. Karen
updated us on the purpose of the project, its initiatives and goals.
II. Report from Definitions Work Group - Thoennes
A. Draft #3 of the Diversity Council's Mission/Vision Statement was distributed for
reactions and suggestions. Suggestions were taken under advisement and the work
group will meet again make some adjustments. Members are asked to forward their
suggestions to Karla for the work group's review.
III. ACE Educating All of One Nation Conference
A. Seven members of the Diversity Council will attend the conference.
B. Other members of the council were polled regarding types of information
conference attendees should be looking for.

A. November 14 at 7:30am
