Services. Sandy will send out a reminder asking for RSVPs.
E. Charles P. suggested that the Diversity Council develop a web page to share what
we are doing. This suggestion is in response to inquiries from a number of people who
are interested in our work. A graduate student has expressed interest in, and has
experience with, designing a web page. Sandy asked for volunteers for a web page
subcommittee.
F. Women's Studies Symposium is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, at 3:30pm in
Loftsgard 380. The speaker, Waulene Pennymon, will talk about activism.
G. This week is International Education Week.

III. Initial Planning Steps
A. Council members reviewed excerpts from President Chapman's State of the
University message, including his reflections on establishing the Diversity Council, to
develop a context for further discussion.
B. Brainstorming Session - Council members identified things that need to
change/transform in order to achieve greater diversity at NDSU. Notes from this
session will follow.
C. Council members identified those changes that would make a deep and pervasive
change for the diversity of NDSU.
D. Karla discussed a draft document regarding structure for the Council. Council
members are asked to identify 1 or 2 Target Areas from that document that they are
interested in and to find others, outside of the Diversity Council, who might also be
interested in working on any of these areas in subcommittees. Sandy will ask for this
information at the next meeting.
