Announcements
• TOCAR Level I Training, Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at NDSU
• TOCAR Level II Training (joint with Concordia and MSUM) April 20-22, 2006
o Send any suggestions of names for these trainings to Kristina at (kristinaann.peterson@ndsu.edu)
NDSU Student Demographics – Fall 2005
• Reviewed student demographics for Fall 2005
• Question regarding whether we can get demographics for graduate/undergraduate by race. Rhonda will see if she can get that data.
Information Sharing: Anti-Racism Team and Diversity Council
• Anti-Racism Team Update (including HEART)
o Activities on strategic plan: working with English and Communications departments regarding including power and privilege concepts into the curriculum for English 120 and Communications 110.
o Scheduled trainings with both faculty groups before next semester.
o Four hour training session planned with College of Pharmacy.
o Four trainers: Jaclynn Davis-Wallette, Kara Stack, Tom Stone-Carlson, Gene Berry
o HEART working on proposal for Bremer.
o Several new TOCAR team members: Malika Carter, Christine Chapweske, Cheryl Troxel, Sonia Hohnadel, and Gary Totten.
o Collaborative (NDSU/MSUM/Concordia/YWCA)
-Round Table Community Dialogs
-Release of campus climate survey data
• Diversity Council Update
o Strategic Plan:
-Send documentation/flyers of training events to Kristina to keep in documentation binder.
o Anti-Bias Response Plan:
-Information table in union next semester will focus on distributing information.
o Resources for Trainings:
-Anyone who comes across good resources for trainings, send Kristina resource name/topic/location.
o Orientation programs expansion
• Discussion of joint action steps for Council/Anti-Racism Team
o What other collaborative efforts are possible
-Outreach beyond NDSU into community?
-Outreach to local school districts as prevention/intervention?
-NDUS Diversity Council working on campus climate survey that will be done at other campuses in the state (NDSU will not be doing it because we did one recently). We can be used as a resource to other universities in the system.

Funding guidelines for Diversity Council financial support of events and programs:
• Volunteers to draft and present to the Council
o Malika, Wendy, Kara, Kristina will work on it.
o Ideas for guidelines
-University wide impact
-Free and open to the public
-Proposals apply to the strategic plan
-Substantial tie to diversity
-Evidence of speaker reputation
-Publicize support of Diversity Council
-Co-sponsorship without funding (endorsement vs. sponsorship)
-Must provide event information for Diversity Council web page
-Proposal process
-Look at Cooperative Group Sponsorship process for more ideas
