I. Announcements
o IVN meeting with NDUS Diversity Council representation on Thursday, February 24 (email sent by Sandy with information to review)
o Council members expressed strong support for Jaclynn Davis Wallette’s appointment to Director of Multicultural Student Services
o Centro Cultural Community Market/Rummage Sale—February 26

o Black History Month
--Soul Food Sampler on Tuesday, February 22 at Alumni Center
--Deb Jenkins on March 4—Book Sale and at MU Live
o Association of Students from India—fundraiser on February 27th at Tupperware Hall for student still in the hospital, recovering from a vehicle accident.
o Brown Bag, March 9, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Peace Garden, “The Concept of Race in Humans” by Gene Berry
o Miz Wizard’s Science Secrets, March 8 at 8:00 p.m., Century Theater (promotes women in science)
o HB1364 (language proficiency bill)—has passed the House. Most provisions in bill are already covered in NDSU Policy 339. NDUS has a similar policy to the NDSU policy.
TOCAR Level II training is in progress at NDSU (January 20-22). There are 13-14 NDSU participants, with additional participants from Concordia College, Minnesota State University Moorhead and the YWCA.

o Recruitment brochure
--Feedback used from last meeting; bids are out and should be ready in 4-6 weeks
o Bigotry response plan
--Have developed web-based form for individuals to submit concerns; option to indicate if individual does or does not want follow-up.
--Can appear on a variety of web pages: Diversity Council, Equal Opportunity, Safe Zone, Disability Services, Multicultural Student Services, International Programs, Departmental, etc.
--Provide feedback regarding draft of form to Karla Thoennes
o Leave for less than 12-month employees and parental leave options
--Sandy will work on language for this proposal
II.Strategic Plan
o New work group assignments given; co-conveners just gather group together
--Assessment—review recommendations and methodology. Propose revisions (additions or deletions) of the suggested assessment means and the methodology including a timetable.
--Performance indicators—need applicability for student affairs, ITS, etc.; current form most applicable to academic affairs
--Evaluation teams—each year information would be reviewed, monitor progress and give feedback to stay on track.
o Feel free to announce others to be a part of group; could be announcements in It’s Happening and on listservs
o This next step is the accountability measure of the report
o Reviewed/discussed assignment for each group
o Send results of each work group to Sandy electronically by April 1, 2005
o Respond to Sandy with any revisions to strategic plan objectives by March 11
III. Approval/distribution of "final" plan
o Launch in the fall
o President’s Cabinet and President’s Council
o Each Vice President group
o Present to faculty orientation
o Implementation of review process with evaluation teams
o Potentially print one for each unit, pdf available on web
IV. Upcoming Meetings - all meetings will be in Meineke Board Room in the Union.
