I. Announcements
o Provost Schnell gave a legislative update on the current equity funding bills
o Tapestry of Diverse Talent nominations are due April 4 (Induction is Friday, May 6 at noon in the Alumni Lounge)
o April is Civil Education Month; see calendar of extensive activities at http://www.ndsu.edu/memorial_union/civicengagement/civileducation.php
o International Week is March 29 – April 1. An International Expo, study abroad fair and International Night are a few of the activities planned. More information at http://www.ndsu.edu/International/ or in brochures that have been distributed throughout campus.
o Mary Louise Defender will present a Native Women’s Ceremony on Monday, March 14th at Moorhead Senior High School at 7 pm
o Several members of the Council were present at the recent IVN subcommittee meeting with the University System Diversity Council and provided feedback for the final report.

--Copies distributed to Council
--Will be provided to academic and some nonacademic departments, Extension & the Chancellor’s office
-- Copies will be provided to academic departments along with applicant flow cards
-- Human Resources will use at career fairs and in other recruitment efforts

o Bigotry response plan
-- Draft of form distributed that will be used as a means of gathering information via the web
-- “Gender” is to be added to the “incident based upon” section
-- Will check on the legal appropriateness of the follow-up aspect of the form
-- Idea proposed to mention the “response team” earlier in the document than the bottom section
-- Provide feedback regarding draft of form to Karla Thoennes (karla.thoennes@ndsu.edu)
-- Group is looking for additional members as well, so let Karla know if you are interested in assisting
II.Strategic Plan
o The Performance indicators subgroup requested a review of the titles of two particular objectives/goals in the strategic plan.
o The change will make the overall objectives/goals more applicable to all departments on campus.
o Members approved the new language for the following goals:
--Goal 2: Learning & Pedagogy
--Goal 3: Research, Scholarship and Creativity
o Worked in subgroups on:
--Assessment
--Performance indicators
--Review (evaluation) teams
o Send results of each work group to Sandy electronically (Sandra.holbrook@ndsu.edu) by April 1, 2005
III. Upcoming Meetings - all meetings will be in Meineke Board Room in the Union.
• Next meeting: Friday, April 15, noon to 1:30 p.m. in Meinecke (lunch served)
• Other scheduled meetings—all in Meinecke; lunch will be served
o Friday, May 20, noon – 1:30 p.m.
o Friday, June 17, noon – 1:30 p.m.
• Please notify Linda Gill (Linda.gill@ndsu.edu or 1-8124) no later than Wednesday morning before the meeting date if you cannot attend the meeting so that she can adjust the lunch count accordingly.
