Announcements
• TOCAR Level I Training, Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at NDSU
• TOCAR Level II Training (joint with MSUM) April 20-22, 2006
o Send any suggestions of names for these trainings to Kristina at (kristinaann.Peterson@ndsu.edu)
• Additional four-hour trainings will be scheduled for this semester and information will be forthcoming.
• Web conference: Feb. 21, 2006 – Designing Blended Courses for Ethnically Diverse Audiences, Noon – 1:30 p.m., Century Theater, sponsored by the Provost’s Office and Diversity Council.
• Presentations made regarding the strategic plan: Agriculture faculty, Student Life and Student Government; upcoming presentation to Extension Leadership Team
• MLK reading event follow-up
o Over 300 people participated in the event
o Follow up session gave positive feedback and suggestions for next year
Funding guidelines for Diversity Council financial support of events and programs:
• The committee is working on web-based form
• Suggestions regarding amount to request for funding such activities
o Starting pool to draw from: $10,000-$20,000 was suggested. Funded programs would be asked to secure matching funds.
o Individual funding guidelines: suggestion was made to fund 50% of cost of an event up to $500 or $1000 (depending on starting pool) matching funds.
• Discussion was held regarding including the suggestion that on the application, funding for new events will be encouraged, but that special speakers for already established annual events will also be considered.
Reports from subcommittees regarding action steps for Diversity Council 2005-06 and determination about follow-up to either continue current activities or initiate new ones.

International Programs:
o Discussion was held regarding NDSU’s strong commitment to international student programs and recruiting and the university’s continuing work to enhance those programs.
