Anti-Racism Team and Diversity Council Host Luncheon: Featured Speaker damali ayo

On Friday, October 19, 2007, the NDSU Anti-Racism Team and Diversity Council hosted a luncheon at the NDSU Alumni Center. Community members including the YWCA Racial Justice Committee, the MSUM training team, and NDSU academic deans gathered to hear damali ayo speak. The topic of the presentation was planned to be on racial justice, internal and external to the campus community. Unfortunately, ayo was unable to arrive in Fargo in time for the luncheon due to travel complications.

With quick thinking and a change in plans, the attendees had a rare opportunity to interact with each other as anti-racist and diversity activists. The event was used to share resources used for training and furthering the understanding about differences in our community.

Later that evening, damali ayo addressed an audience of over 100 attendees. This audience included students, faculty, staff from NDSU, MSUM, and Concordia Colleges, along with community members. damali's presentation included humor, art, and a strong message of anti-racism.
