The NDSU Research and Technology Park hosted the 5:01 Entrepreneur Society meeting on Tuesday, April 17, at the Center of Technology and Enterprise.
Dan Ewert, chair and professor of the electrical and computer engineering department, presented "Bison Ventures and the Engines of Innovation." Ewert’s main area of research includes cardiovascular engineering and includes ventricular assist device and mathematical encoding.
Bison Ventures is a collaboration of the College of Engineering and Architecture and the College of Business to develop spin-off companies by leveraging intellectual capital of faculty and students at NDSU. First, a multi-disciplinary team works together to develop a type of technology or product and then creates a business, financial or marketing plan. The team then registers as a corporation in the state of North Dakota. Bison Ventures allows students and faculty to experience being part of the startup business environment.
Xcel Energy sponsored Tuesday’s meeting. The 5:01 Entrepreneur Society is a networking event for local entrepreneurs, students, business owners and angel investors. For more information or to register, contact Jan Sobolik at 499-3602 or jan@ndsuresearchpark.com.
