Academic Standards

Prior to registration in junior- and senior-level courses, majors must have

  1. a grade of "C" or better in the following courses:
    • ECE 111, 173, 275, and EE 206
    • all required mathematics courses

  2. An overall GPA of 2.0 or above

A maximum of three enrollments in any one EE/ECE course is allowed. However, the third enrollment requires a successful appeal to a committee to be appointed by the Department Chair and comprised of ECE Faculty.

For admission into one of the programs in the department, the following must be true:

  • For freshman

    An ACT (or equivalent) mathematics test score of 23, or

    An ACT mathematics test score of at least 20 and be in the top 30% of your class

  • For transfer students from U.S. institutions

    Must have a 2.3/4.0 or better GPA

  • For international transfer students

    Must have a 3.0/4.0 or better GPA

To be acceptable transfer credits in mathematics, science, or engineering courses, grades in those courses must be a "C" or better.
