Alex Buell is working with Dr. Ken Lepper of the Geosciences Department developing a direct depositional chronology for the shores of Glacial Lake Agassiz. Due
to the low organic contents of the beach ridges, they will be using a dating technique involving mineral grains called Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL). The research is planned to take two years and results hope to hone in on OSL accuracy as a dating tool and develop further geochronology of the southern outlet of Glacial Lake Agassiz.
Other Interests:
Alex is originally from Bismarck and graduated from Century High
School in 2001. He obtained his B.S. in Biological Sciences from NDSU in 2007. In his spare time he likes to play Nintendo Wii,
watch "The Office", and snowboard (if there is snow).
