I have been teaching English to non-native speakers at NDSU for several years -- both for the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) and the English department. I have found this specialty to be an interesting challenge from my previous years of teaching traditional first year composition courses. Grammar and usage can be interesting and even sometimes fun! I teach students from nearly every continent each semester. I enjoy the perspective that they have given to me regarding their cultures, and I am compelled to notice anew the idiosyncrasies of the English language.
I appreciate the one-on-one time that I have with my students during their individual writing conferences with me. Such writing conferences are invaluable when working with students of diverse backgrounds.
I currently teach English 112 and 122.
I have BA degrees in English and psychology. I have Masters degrees in both education and English.
