ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT ADVISORY BOARD GUIDELINES

The Enrollment Management Advisory Board is established through the delegation of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and serves in an advisory capacity to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and the units of Enrollment Management.
- Purpose and Responsibility
The enrollment management unit at NDSU is comprised of the offices of admission, student financial services, orientation and student success, registration and records, career center, bison connection, and technical support. The unit promotes the concept of integrated and collaborative efforts by the total campus to maximize the best student/institution match which will positively impact the recruitment, retention, persistence, and overall success of the student population.
The Advisory Board shall seek to represent the interests of University faculty, staff, alumni, and students in advising on policy matters relating to the operation, use, improvement, and service delivery of the Enrollment Management units at North Dakota State University in order to enhance student success.
The Advisory Board is comprised of twelve (12) members: six (6) students (at least one transfer student, graduate student, non-traditional student and international student), two (2) faculty members, two (2) staff members from outside the Enrollment Management units and two (2) at large members. Students serve as members until they graduate or resign from their position on the board. At large, faculty and staff board members will be appointed for alternating, 4-year terms with a one (1) term limit. The Vice President for Student Affairs, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and the directors of all Enrollment Management units serve as ex-officio members of the Advisory Board (permanent members). The Administrative Assistant to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs will provide administrative support to the Advisory Board.
One of the student representatives will be selected by the Advisory Board membership to co-chair the Advisory Board meetings each year. The chair position will be selected at a spring Advisory Board meeting each year.
To fill any open Advisory Board positions, nominations will be solicited from faculty, staff, students, and members of the Enrollment Management units. The names of the selected individuals will be forwarded to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and the Vice President for Student Affairs for approval before being appointed.
Advisory Board meetings will be held no less than 4 times a year during fall and spring semesters. The Enrollment Management unit Administrative Assistant is responsible for scheduling meeting dates, coordinating meeting arrangements, recording meeting minutes, and notifying board members of meetings. The Advisory Board Chair works with the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs to develop the meeting agenda.
Board members are encouraged to attend all Advisory Board meetings; no substitutions are permitted. Any board member who misses more than half of the academic year meetings may be asked to forfeit his/her position on the board.
Minutes from the previous meetings will be provided to the members of the Advisory Board at each of the meetings or through e-mail. Advisory Board members will be asked for corrections and changes so that a historic record can be kept.
Group consensus or recommendations will be used in decision making rather than a formal voting mechanism.
Ad hoc committees will be established as needs and interests are identified. All ad hoc committees must have an equal number of students to other committee members. (Example, 1 faculty member, 1 staff member, 1 at large member, 3 student members)
