1- Position (2948351): Design of Advanced Adhesive Materials

Description & Details:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at North Dakota State University is seeking candidates for a Post-Doctoral appointment working in the area of mechanical testing, materials characterization, and design of advanced adhesive materials and systems. The candidates should have adequate knowledge of metals, polymers, materials characterization, mechanical testing, finite element analysis, and engineering design. This position requires extensive knowledge in the field of material testing under various conditions, finite element analysis, constitutive characterization, and modeling of polymer-based materials. Experience in the area of adhesives and related characterization will be a plus.

Prior knowledge and experience with architected materials, 4D materials, and responsive materials would also be an asset for this position.  Other responsibilities for both positions will include documentation of research findings, meeting with other research staff, working with graduate students, collaboration on and presentation of scientific papers, grant and proposal writing, and industrial outreach. These positions require a high level of understanding of materials science, physics, and mechanics of materials. We seek candidates who can contribute to that goal and encourage you to apply and to identify your strengths in this area. The successful candidates will work closely with Dr. Fardad Azarmi from the Mechanical Engineering Department and Dr. Andrew Croll from the Department of Physics at NDSU.
