Jorge Cózatl
Conductor and baritone of Concierto Latinoamericano and Artistic Director of Choir Kantorei CEDROS - UNIVERSIDAD PANAMERICANA, Jorge Cózatl was born in Mexico City and studied at the National School of Music. Since then, he has maintained constant activity around the choral music in Mexico, the Unites States of America, Latin America and Europe. He formed and conducted the Coro Infantil y Juvenil de México in 1994, conducted the Goethe Institute Choir in Mexico in 2000, the Femenine Choir of the Reihnische Musikschule in Cologne, Germany in 2001 and Niños Cantores de Tepotzotlán from 2002 to 2011. He has conducted the Madrigal Choir of the National Institute of Fine Arts INBA in Mexico as well as several ensembles and choirs in different states of Mexico, including Coro de la República. He has also composed works for choirs and orchestras and produced vocal arrangements of different folk tunes, mainly of Latin American music that have been recorded by different ensembles in Mexico, the USA, Canada and Austria.
Cózatl participated as a guest composer in the first and fourth year that VocalEssence offered the ¡Cantaré! Community Engagement program. In 2010, his arrangement of Xtoles was published by VocalEssence Music Press, as well as his piece Pasar la Vida in 2012.
