Dr. Jo Ann Miller Professor Degrees:
The NDSU Concert Choir is comprised of 65 students, primarily music majors. The choir has been invited to perform at national, regional and state music conventions, including the 2008 & 2004 North Central American Choral Directors Association conventions and the 2001 national ACDA convention in San Antonio, Texas. They will perform at the 2008 NCACDA convention in Fargo, ND. In addition to the primarily a cappella music performed on tour, the Concert Choir has performed a number of major works with regional orchestras. Their performance of William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Bramwell Tovey, was cited as the “Best Choral Performance of the Year” by the Winnipeg Free Press. Recent performances with the FMSO include the Poulenc Gloria, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vaughn Williams’ Sea Symphony, and the Verdi Requiem. The Concert Choir takes a concert tour each year and has traveled widely in the United States, Canada and Europe. They have produced over 30 recordings, including 14 compact discs. Dr. Miller is the Artistic Director of the Fargo Moorhead Chamber Chorale, the Chorus Master of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, and the Director of the NDSU Baroque Festival. She is active in the American Choral Director’s Association and was named North Dakota’s Outstanding Choral Director for 2004. Miller is the current president for the North Central division of ACDA. She is an active clinician and guest conductor in the Midwest and Canada. |
