Varland Costume Designer at Wolf Trap
Opens August 3 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts! March 8, 2012 Rooth Varland, Associate Professor and Department Coordinator for NDSU Theatre, has been invited to design costumes for The Rake’s Progress by Igor Stravinsky at The Barns at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts outside of Washington, DC. The production will run August 3, 5, and 11, 2012. Presented by the Wolf Trap Opera Company, the young and feckless Tom Rakewell succumbs to temptation and abandons his sweetheart and country life for the bright lights of the city. The opera tracks his fall from grace in the brothels and mansions of London and testifies to the redemptive power of love. This is the sixth production Varland has worked on with director Tara Faircloth. For more information about The Rake’s Progress, please visit Wolf Trap online. |
