Atkinson Exhibition at Spirit Room Gallery

Ernest Atkinson, a 2007 Visual Arts graduate from North Dakota State University, will showcase his works in an exhibition titled "Observe/Observar" at the Spirit Room Gallery, 111 Broadway, July 5-31. An opening reception will be held Saturday, July 7 from 6:30-9:00 PM with a gallery talk scheduled for 8:00 PM.
"Observe/Observar" is a mixed media exhibit featuring oil and acrylic paints. Atkinson appreciates the idea of "mixed" in his artwork, the mixing of paint and the mixing of people in societies. He asks the viewer to not dismiss others by labeling by skin color or clothing but instead observe and learn about them in an open and accepting way. By doing so, similarities will be noted and differences and conflicts set aside.
Atkinson will attend the Chicago Art Institute as a graduate student in painting this fall.
