NDSU School of Music Faculty Activities

Dr. Robert Jones, Professor of Voice with the NDSU School of Music, will participate in an open forum titled “Advocate! Exploring Creative Strategies for Connecting with a Broader Constituency through More Engaged Citizenship,” November 15 in San Diego, CA, during the College Music Society National Conference.

The NDSU Faculty Brass Quintet will perform as part of the Plains Art Museum’s Noon Holiday Concerts on Thursday, November 29 from Noon-1 PM.  The concert is free and open to the public, food and beverages will be available for purchase.  The ensemble will perform holiday favorites by Tchaikovsky, Handel, and more. 

Members of the Faculty Brass Quintet include Jeremy Brekke, trumpet; Amy Schaaf, trumpet; Erik Vigesaa, horn; Kyle Mack, trombone; and Doug Neill, tuba.

Nicholaus Meyers, doctoral candidate in percussion performance with the NDSU School of Music, has been commissioned to write two pieces, both of which premiered this fall.  The Davidson Fine Arts Wind Symphony, Augusta, Georgia, premiered his piece titled Enduring the Struggle during their October 16 performance.  Fellow NDSU graduate student M. Chad Green performed Meyer’s piece for euphonium solo titled Three Ideas during his November 8 recital in Beckwith Recital Hall.
