Kapplinger Moderates Panel at Print Conference

Kent Kapplinger, Professor with North Dakota State University Visual Arts, moderated a four-person education panel titled Rubbing Shoulders during the 2012 Mid America Print Council Biennial Conference in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on November 3. This panel addressed the conference theme, "The Entrepreneurial Printmaker," by highlighting a range of successful methods for introducing students to real-world business experiences. Kapplinger discussed how the NDSU Visual Arts/PEARS collaborative print projects and workshops provide students business experience.  Panel members included Dr. Stephen Frech, Dr. Laurie Geller, Bill Harbort, and John Volk.

Kapplinger  teaches printmaking, drawing, and design, and directs the Printmaking Education and Research Studio (PEARS) and Art Bank program. He received a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of Iowa and Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College (SD). He has received fellowships from the Hungarian Multicultural Center, North Dakota Council on the Arts, Woodstock School of Art (NY), and Vinalhaven Press (ME). His work has been shown in over 180 individual and group exhibitions and can be seen in nearly 40 public and corporate collections, including the Special Collections Department & Rare Books Room at the University of Colorado; The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario (CAN); Johnson & Johnson Company (NJ); Museum of Texas Tech University; and Schenectady Museum (NY).
