Music Alumna to Perform National Anthem
December 14, 2012
Clara (Presser) Osowski, Bachelor of Music, 2008, will be singing the National Anthem to open the Friday night game between North Dakota State University and Georgia Southern at the Fargodome.
Osowski was active in several organizations while a student at NDSU. She performed with the NDSU Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, and NDSU Opera in addition to serving as Student Body Vice President. After graduation she studied at the University of Iowa, receiving a Master of Arts in Vocal Performance in 2010.
"North Dakota State University provides the strongest sense of community throughout the entire campus, which allows students to feel a sense of pride and confidence in their work” said Osowski. “Most inspiring to me during my time there was the collaborations between the music department, athletics, student government, and many others. As Bison, we learn compassion and a sense of unity that influences our future careers and attracts success, whether we study microbes or Mozart. I'm fortunate to be a proud member of our Herd that works together and celebrates each other."
Osowski performs with several professional ensembles in the Twin Cities area. She most currently performed with VocalEssence during their holiday program, which can be heard on Minnesota Public Radio. She can also be heard in upcoming performances with Silver Swan, Mirandola, the Bach Society of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Concert Opera. Osowski was a regional finalist at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions earlier this year and placed second at the Graduate Level Schubert Club Scholarship Competition. She is currently an adjunct voice faculty member at the University of Minnesota, Morris and the alto section leader at the Church of St. Patrick, Edina, Minnesota.
