School of Music Students Place at NATS

Several students from the North Dakota State University School of Music placed at the North Dakota Chapter of the National Association of Singers (NATS) Annual Auditions, Saturday, April 13 in Fargo.

Over 125 students from throughout North Dakota and Minnesota were invited to participate in this annual event, whose goal is to provide an opportunity for students to perform for and receive feedback from multiple vocal instructors in addition to rewarding cash prizes. Undergraduate students must perform three selections: one English, one foreign language, and one pre-19th century piece. Graduate students perform for 15 minutes and present two foreign language art songs, one English song, and an aria from an opera or oratorio. Participants rehearse with their studio instructors for several months in preparation for this competition.
