Theatre NDSU 2012-13 Season
From Artistic Director Hardy Koenig
Theatre is balance. At NDSU we are constantly and consistently striving toward presenting a balance in our theatrical season. We must balance the academic side of what we do as we are one of the premier theatre training programs in the region. We must also entertain. Theatre must be seen. At NDSU we feel strongly about serving the community that supports us. We also must be present in the lives of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and levels of the social strata.
I am happy that Theatre NDSU has achieved a wonderful balance in the 2012-13 season.
We will present an important new work in Naomi Lizuka's Anon(ymous), a play filled with themes that are hard to ignore in the world in which we live today. The Servant of Two Masters, by Carlos Goldoni, will give our students great training opportunities in the ways of commedia dell'arte while giving our audiences an evening filled with laughter. 9 to 5: The Musical will provide everything that musical theatre should do - entertain and make you think. We will give the audience the chance to see the talent we have at NDSU through singing, acting, dancing, directing, and design - all in the wonderful family friendly space of Festival Concert Hall. Through the newfangled theatre company the students take the reins and show their abilities to mount a strong production through John Heimbuch's play The Transdimensional Courier's Union. Theatre NDSU will "push the envelope" in this presentation of an amazing science fiction adventure of love, technology, and betrayal.
I am truly excited about next season and invite you all into our house to share what I think will be some exceptional theatrical experiences.
