Ms. Lori Horvik has been a member of the theatre arts faculty at North Dakota State University since 1995. She teaches directing, acting, dramatic literature, introduction to theatre, and world film. She serves as Associate Director for Productions for the Little Country Theatre, the producing arm of the Department of Theatre Arts.
Having previously worked as a professional director, stage manager, and educator in Chicago with the Playwright's Center, St. Sebastian Players, and Magic If Productions, Ms. Horvik currently directs for the NDSU stage as well as the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT) and the Harwood Prairie Playhouse (HPP). Recent productions include Marvin's Room, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Wedding, The Amorous Ambassador, Oleanna, and Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, which was named Best "After Dark" Production at FMCT.
In addition to directing and teaching, Ms. Horvik works in the area of curricular consulting. She recently led the Department of Theatre Arts through national accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), a national accreditation agency, and has been invited to participate as a program evaluator for NAST. Ms. Horvik spent a month in Nigeria, Africa, in July 2002 as a consultant for the theatre arts curriculum and university structure.
Ms. Horvik is also active with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, which is dedicated to fostering excellence in college theatre. In addition to show responses and workshop presentations, she has been a member of the Region V selection team for the past two years.
