Dr. Paul Lifton has been a member of the faculty at North Dakota State University since 1988. He teaches theatre history and literature, acting, and directing and serves as the director of academics for the Department of Theatre Arts. He also serves as stage director for Little Country Theatre productions.

Dr. Lifton is the author of "Vast Encyclopedia:" The Theatre of Thornton Wilder (Greenwood Press, 1995), the first critical analysis in English in nearly 30 years focusing exclusively on Wilder's plays. He also contributed essays to two anthologies of critical essays on Wilder, one published in 1996 and the other in 1999.
