Scholarships A number of scholarships in theatre arts are available for students with either a performance or a technical emphasis:
Prospective students in the area of performance should prepare a short monologue to present to the faculty. Students in the area of musical theatre may choose an excerpt from a prepared song. Please note that there will be no accompanist provided. Prospective students in the area of design/tech should be prepared to share their design experiences with visual aids such as a portfolio. Students should send their application prior to their interview, but also bring a copy of the application and resume to the interview. Factors determining the awarding of the scholarships:
Please apply now as we will stop taking applications after February 15. We have arranged for two days for the interviewing process:
If students are not able to come on either of these dates they must contact Dr. Pam Chabora as soon as possible. Students may contact her by calling (701) 231-6657 or by e-mailing pamela.chabora@ndsu.edu if there are any questions about the interviewing process or to set up an alternate time. If students have any questions about the process, preparing interviewing materials, or the program at NDSU, please don't hesitate to contact Dr. Chabora or her assistant Stephanie Richter at ndsu.theatre@ndsu.edu. Good luck and we hope to see you soon! Theatre training develops and exercises the creative
imagination and fosters excellence in communication skills. Our graduates
have found a rich variety of professions open to them. Several have gone
on to earn MA, MFA, or PhD degrees in theatre and related fields and now
teach in colleges and universities, community colleges, and high schools.
Other graduates of our program work in arts management, technical theatre,
and technical consulting, as well as in community theatre, semi-professional
repertory companies, professional theatre, and commercial radio and television.
