Kimble A. Bromley is an international, national and regional exhibitor. His most recent exhibitions are CHICAGO PAINTINGS, Carroll Art Gallery, Carroll College, Helena, MT showing through October and POND PAINTINGS at the 3rd Street Gallery in Grand Forks, ND ending in September. Kim has served as a visiting artist throughout the upper Midwest, Ecuador and Mexico. He has painted abroad in Cuba, Jamaica, Ecuador, and Mexico. His work has been supported by grants from Kellogg, Teagle/Bell South, and Partners of the Americas. Since moving to North Dakota in 1996, he has completed a number of series of paintings. Currently he is working on his more introspective MOBY-DICK SERIES. Other series completed include a collection of billiard ball paintings commissioned by Fargo Billiards and Gastropub and written up in the November 2009 issue of “Billiards Digest”, a series of paintings painted on location at his pond in Minnesota, a large group of works inspired by his residency and graffiti seen in Chicago and several landscape series of the North Dakota plains.
As professor of art at North Dakota State University, Bromley teaches painting and drawing. One component of his studio classes involves hypnotizing his students to assist them with their creativity. Bromley’s interest in hypnosis has led him to research the significance of hypnosis on creativity. Bromley and his co-researchers published “Hypnotic Enhancement of Creative Drawing” in the October 2007 issue of The International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Bromley has presented his Creativity Enhancement Workshop internationally.
Bromley joined North Dakota State University as Coordinator of the Department of Visual Arts in 1996. Previously, he taught at Kentucky Wesleyan College, Owensboro Community College, DePaul University, Prairie State College, and Southern Illinois University.
