PEARS

Printmaking Education and Research Studio

PROGRAMS


Studio Rental

Approved emerging artists can gain access to the printmaking studio facilities and basic supplies for a fee of $60.00 per month.

  1. Access to all printmaking facilities during building hours.
  2. Free use of tools, equipment, inks and basic studio supplies.
  3. Documentation of artwork on slides once annually.
  4. Exhibition opportunities.
  5. Personal storage space.
  6. Lectures/discussion of events and opportunities.

Artists are selected by application review and must make a minimum four-month commitment to the program. Selection is based on artistic potential, media knowledge, and personal dedication. Participants should have a working knowldege in printmaking techniques they want to pursue. To apply, submit the following material, in person if possible, to the PEARS Director.

  • Portfolio of 5-10 actual prints preferred, but slides are acceptable if materials are mailed
  • artistic resume
  • letter of intent
  • two letters of recommendation (personal and professional)

Application deadlines: March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15.

Artist Residency

Long and short term residencies are available at the PEARS studio. Resident receives access to printmaking facilities, free use of tools, equipment, and basic studio supplies and up to 10 hours of technical assistance per month for a $250 monthly fee plus one impression from each edition produced. Monthly fee does not include meals, travel, or lodging. To apply submit:

  • 5-10 samples of work, slides are also acceptable
  • letter of intention describing project and duration
  • artistic resume
  • letter of recommendation


Internship

Opportunities are available for individuals to intern as studio assistants:

  • Maintenance of studio facilities, materials, and print archives
  • assist master printer in preparing and printing editions for visiting artists
  • prepare public events, exhibition, websites, and lectures
Indiviuals with interest and experience in printmaking are preferred. Assistants must be able to work independently. In return for work, interns receive free studio time. Contact the director of PEARS.
