These competitive grants support the hiring of an outside consultant to assist STEM departments in addressing issues related to climate, communication, or strategic planning and to facilitate candid conversations within the department where appropriate. The goal is to help individual departments develop a climate that respects gender differences and actively promotes the success of both women and men faculty members. Selection is based upon departmental need and readiness and requires a 50/50 fund match. Proposals are required to incorporate a mechanism by which progress can be assessed and reported.
