Orientation and Student Success Graduate Assistant

Date of employment: August 15, 2013 – August 14, 2014 Two year commitment is preferred. 

Stipend:  $11,199 per year (including summer) and a full tuition waiver. 

Supervision:  Will report to Associate Director within the Office of Orientation & Student Success 

Location:  Lower Level of West Dining Center 

Hours:  20 hours per week.  This will include some evening hours and weekends during the academic year. 

Job Description

  • Family Programs– 50%Duties may include: 
    Assist in the planning and implementation of parent programs, not limited to: Family weekend  and other family/parent programs to be determined
  • Assist in administering orientation programs - 30%Duties may include: 
    Assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of Orientation & Welcome Week programs; assist in the recruitment, selection, training of COAR leaders and Welcome Week leaders 
  • Assist in administering tutoring and other academic enhancement programs – 15%
    Duties may include:  Assist in monitoring student behavior; complete weekly attendance reports; provide periodic on-site supervision of the ACE program; assist in training ACE staff; meet one-on-one with high risk student-athletes; communicate student-athlete academic issues with coaches/athletic staff. 
  • Other duties as assigned – 5%
    Duties may include: Meet with the Associate Director one-on-one at least once per week, maintain regular office hours 20 hours per week, serve as an active member of the Orientation and Student Success Office, promote services provided by office during recruitment events, other duties as assigned. 
  • Customer Service
    Provide model customer service at all times to students, staff, faculty, and NDSU guests. 
  • Work Safely
    Follow safety rules; help identify unsafe working conditions; stop co-workers who are working in an unsafe manner

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Admitted graduate student at NDSU
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
