Preparing to Graduate

The Graduate School is the central office for ensuring that all degree requirements are met so students will complete their degrees on schedule. As students move through a graduate degree program, it is important to be aware of the requirements for successful progress. This section provides students with a timeline for completing a graduate degree. It also gives explanations, due dates, and links to forms that must be submitted to The Graduate School in order for students to move efficiently through a graduate program.

See the current Graduate School Bulletin for further information and policies.

The Graduate Schools' deadline to meet degree requirements for spring graduation is May 10, 2013*.

By this date, doctoral students must file paperwork with the Graduate School (Report of Final Exam, title page, IBC/IRB/IACUC form), complete the Exit Survey, apply for graduation, and obtain Graduate School approval of the dissertation.

By this date, master's students must file paperwork with the Graduate School (Report of Final Exam, title page, IBC/IRB/IACUC form), complete the Exit Survey, apply for graduation, and obtain Graduate School approval of the thesis or paper.

Students in non-writing master’s programs must have an approved Plan of Study on file, complete the Exit Survey, and apply for graduation by this date.
