Previously Published Materials
All programs have the option of allowing students to use materials submitted for publication or already published as an integral component of the disquisition.
For this option, the student is required to submit a document in a format that is consistent with Graduate School Format Guidelines for Dissertations, Theses, and Papers.
If previously published materials make up one or more chapters of the disquisition, additional chapters must be included to provide an overarching introduction or literature review at the start of the disquisition and a unifying conclusion or discussion at the end of the disquisition.
Additionally, previously published materials may carry copyright restrictions on students’ ability to redistribute or reproduce their own work. See the section on Copyright Protection for more information.
