The Academic Affairs committee had a number of questions regarding this program and the Great Plains IDEA consortium. Dr. Wittrock said there are many places in the proposal where topics overlap what is currently on campus and he would like a letter of support from the Agribusiness and Applied Economics Department. Dr. Wittrock will talk about this at the Dean's meeting and it will be put on the April agenda. Dr. Wittrock will ask Greg Sanders to attend the meeting to answer questions. Dr. Wittrock also presented a proposal for a new option in the M.Ed. program, Family and Consumer Science. This program is patterned after the GPIDEA, but Dr. Wittrock will check to see that this will follow the same guidelines as the GPIDEA programs. Gary Goreham made a motion to approve the proposal pending Dr. Wittrock's confirmation the GPIEA rules apply. Donna Terbizan provided the second. Motion carried. Additional Items Transcriptable Options and Subplans Dr. Wittrock presented the Council with information regarding programs with subplans/options. The nine credit recommendation will be an issue for some programs if they want these transcripted. The Graduate School will contact departments with less than nine unique credits for their options to see if they a. want the option transcripted and b. if it would be a problem to make the option nine unique credits. Dr. Wittrock will let Academic Affairs know the Graduate Council supports this idea so they may shop it around to departments. Disquisition Review Dr. Wittrock presented an updated review process proposal. This proposed revision is intended to alleviate the backlog in the process. There was discussion about other options and feedback on the proposed revision. Dr. Wittrock is taking the recommendation to implement this revision with the additional recommendation to change the appendices to examples and not rules. Dr. Wittrock will announce this change and schedule an Open Forum for faculty and students to discuss. At 10:00 a.m., Dr. Wittrock adjourned the meeting. Respectfully submitted, Melissa Selders-Ortez
