    January 9, 2008

    The January meeting of the Graduate Council was called to order by Dr. Wittrock, at 8:30 am, January 9, 2008 in the Lake/Agassiz Room in Memorial Union.

    In attendance: Ann Burnett, Bill Berzonsky, Jacob Glower, Verlin Hinsz, Samudra Kugel, Renee Magnan, Brandy Randall, Seth Rasmussen, Rodney Traub, Charlene Wolf-Hall

    The minutes for the December 12 2007 meeting were considered. Ann Burnett made a motion to approve the minutes. Charlene Wolf-Hall provided the second. Motion carried.

    Requests for Associate Faculty Status/Teaching Waiver

    There were none.

    Course and Program Changes

    The Curriculum committee did not meet during the break so all proposals will be considered for the February meeting

    Additional Items

    Dissertation titles on doctoral transcripts

    Dr. Wittrock was contacted by the Registrar regarding the possibility of printing dissertation titles on doctoral graduate's transcripts. After discussion with no real preference either way, Dr. Wittrock asked the council to take this information back to their departments for feedback.

    Enrollment Task Force

    Dr. Wittrock notified the council that he is co-chairing a committee tasked with finding out what the university will need to reach a student population of 16, 000. The committee needs to present the President with a report by April 14, 2008. Dr. Wittrock asked the council for feedback with regard to this report so that it may accurately reflect the department needs with this amount of students.

    At 9:40 a.m., Dr. Wittrock adjourned the meeting.
