The committee performs three functions: It (1) alerts units about upcoming curricular deadlines, (2) advises individual units about proposed curriculum changes, including consideration of such issues as course duplication, and (3) after review, recommends curriculum changes to the University Academic Affairs Committee. Members serve four year terms and include one representative from each unit elected by the unit faculty. The committee chair is elected by the committee members and also serves as the College representative to University Academic Affairs. Kara Wolfe Term expires 9/2012 Jim Deal Term expires 9/2009 Ardith Brunt Term expires 9/2009 Myron Eighmy Term expires 9/2010 Dean's Advisory Committee: The Dean's Advisory Committee consists of full professors without administrative appointments, who provide input to the Dean, and serve as faculty liaisons to the Dean. The committee also serves a peer review panel for award nominations each spring. If there is not equal representation from all units of the College on the commiteee for these reviews, units which are not represented will appoint review representatives.
Tom Barnhart, HNES Bob Nielsen, Education Ron Stammen, Education Donna Terbian, HNES Dean's Cabinet: The Dean's Cabinet consists of the Dean; Assistants/Associates who may be appointed; Chairs/Heads from each unit; Director of Student Services and Advancement, and the HDE Senate Executive Committee Member. This team provides administrative leadership and management for the ongoing programs. plans and needs of the College. Virginia Clark Johnson, Chair Holly Bastow-Shoop Brad Cogdill Jim Deal Deb Gebeke Nancy Gress Bill Martin Bob Nielsen Greg Sanders Doctoral Committee: The roles of the Human Development and Education Doctoral Program Committee are to facilitate and support recruiting and retention, determine policies and procedures within the campus and College framework, review applications for admissions; coordinate course scheduling with participating units; and review curriculum changes for the doctoral program. Greg Sanders, Chair Cynthia Torges Bryan Christensen Jim Deal Wade Hannon Promotion, Tenure and Evaluation Committee: The Promotion, Tenure and Evaluation Committee conducts annual evaluations and three year reviews of faculty in probationary appointments, and conducts three year reviews of tenured faculty. In addition they review and evaluate the dossiers of faculty who apply for tenure and/or promotion. The committee also reviews and approves any changes in unit and College Promotion, Tenure and Evaluation criteria. The format of the committee recommendations, membership of the committee and length of membership are determined by rules set at the university level. Criteria used for reviews are set by the College unit (school or department), the College and the University. The committee's recommendation is based on a review of the unit's evaluation, specifically related to consistency with criteria as well as strength of rationale/justification and fairness. Greg Sanders, Chair Kara Wolfe Brandy Randall Yeong Rhee Mark Schmidt Rachelle Vettern Scholarship Committee: The primary function of the Scholarship Committee is to screen candidates based on written applications and to select recipients of the annual scholarships awarded by the College of Human Development and Education. Nancy Gress, Chair Jay Albrecht Alan Hanson Nancy Kaler Ann Ragan Student Progress Committee: Each College will establish and maintain a College Student Progress Committee which is responsible for developing, establishing, and monitoring academic standards within that College. The size and structure of the College Student Progress Committee was determined, by college faculty, to be one representative from each academic unit and a committee chair. Members were identified by the faculty in August 2007. The Student Progress Committee is responsible for: 1) enforcing student-progress policies within the college; 2) reviewing the academic record of students who are deficient in scholarship; 3) acting on the cases of students who are eligible for academic warning, probation, and/or suspension, consistent with university-wide standards for academic warning, academic probation, continued academic probation, and academic suspension, with suspensions being sent to the Registrar; reviewing petitions from students asking for special consideration in the application of any college academic regulation; these academic regulations include but are not limited to, policies related to: the substituiton/waiver of a department/college curricular requirement; and, action on a request for retroactive course drops and withdrawals; informing the Registrar/Director of Student Affairs of actions involving individual students.Virginia Clark Johnson, Chair Holly Bastow-Shoop Jim Deal Bill Martin
