May Research Update:
Cindy Peterson, a May Master's graduate in CDFS, and her advisor Joel Hektner presented a poster based on her thesis at the annual meeting of the Society for Prevention Research in San Francisco. The poster is titled” Change in drinking motives from adolescence through emerging adulthood: Examining the role of secondary motives." Joel Hektner, together with colleagues from University of Minnesota, also presented a paper titled "One program, two versions: Adapted and adaptive models of Early Risers implemented in school and supportive housing contexts" as part of a symposium at the same meeting. Congratulations to Cindy for also winning the first prize for student posters at the HDE Research Showcase!
Jay Albrecht and Kara Gange presented at the North Dakota Physician's Assistant State Meeting on May 1st. Jay’s presentation was titled, "A Contemporary Review of Common Lower Extremity Special Tests". Kara’s presentation was titled, "A Contemporary Review of Common Upper Extremity Special Tests".
Brandi Niemeier (PhD student in Wellness) and Gary Liguori had the following submission accepted for a Roundtable Presentation at the 136th APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition (October 25-29, 2008) in San Diego, CA:"Working across county and state lines: Evaluating access of weight-related health promotion programs”. Carlie Ames (MS student in HNES) and Gary Liguori also had the following poster submission selected for presentation at this meeting: "North Dakota Goes Red for Women: A Worksite Wellness Study”.
Chuck Fountaine, Gary Liguori, Arupendra Mozumdar, and Jake Kincaid presented a poster entitled "Television Viewing, Screen Time, and Physical Activity in College Students" at the American College of Sports Medicine National Meeting in Indianapolis, IN on May 30, 2008.
