Deb DeWitz has a BSW from the University of North Dakota (1973), and an MSW (with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy) from the University of Nebraska in Omaha (1986).  She also attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (1991-1997), completing all coursework, qualifying exam, and pilot study for a Ph.D. in Social Welfare, prior to health issues that required her to exit from the program. 

Deb worked in child welfare in both North Dakota and Minnesota for 15 years prior to teaching at the University of North Dakota for two years in their BSW and MSW classes.  She then taught at Minnesota State University for six years, and began as the Field Coordinator for Minot State University in 2003, where she served as Field Coordinator until December 2012.  In January she began as the dual degree liaison for a joint program between the Social Work Program at MSU and the Human Development Family Science program at NDSU, located on the NDSU campus in Fargo, ND.
