Rashidat Moreira, Graduate Research Assistant, 2013 - 2014
I received by BSc in Biology and Society as a Premed in 2012 from Cornell University, where I was one of the research assistants in the Healthy Aging Laboratory. As a Premed, not only did I want to understand health physiologically, but I also wanted to be aware of the social and psychological factors that improve physical, social and mental health among older adults. My ultimate goal is to become a geriatric doctor. With the increasing aging population, it is very apparent that we need well-rounded and experienced geriatric doctors.
Currently, I am pursuing my MS in Gerontology. I am interested in identifying and understanding factors that influence how older adults interact and express their emotions and opinions toward their health care providers. I am also interested in the severity and management of pain, and the effects of race and socioeconomic status on the well-being of older adults.
