News from the Center for Heritage Renewal, North Dakota State University

Here's an image I meant to post a couple of months ago, right after the program on
Growing Up on Bald Hill Creek we had at Ladbury Church, but I forgot. Jen did a great job of presenting initial research on Harvey Sletten and his memoir and in prompting a flow of recollections from those in attendance. Come to think of it, I have sound files of some of those recollections, which can be shared in future postings to this weblog. The Bald Hill Creek program was the final one in the 2006 Ladbury Lecture Series, funded by the North Dakota Humanities Council. This is an appropriate place, too, to note with respect and regret the passing of George Amann--farmer, historian, citizen, man of faith. George was the founder of the Ladbury Lecture Series, and despite the debilitation of his final bout with cancer, he was there for this program, as for every one previous. Well done, George.
