ALBERT G. AND
CELESTE BRAUER SCHOLARSHIP
The Albert G. and Celeste Brauer Scholarship was established by Albert G. and Celeste Brauer in April 1992. The award is given annually to one student in good academic standing enrolled in history. Brauer Scholarships are also awarded annually to first year students and to a student enrolled in nurses training. Albert Brauer graduated with a degree in History Education from NDAC in 1938 and taught at West Fargo High School prior to joining the army in 1939. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1962 after 23 years of service. From 1962 to 1980 he taught history and government at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio. Celeste Brauer was a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps during World War Two who worked as a nurse at Kent State University for many years. The Brauers met when they were both stationed in Hawaii when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
