PAT/History Club Educational Award Form
Last spring, the idea was presented to create a more formal process for applying for money to attend conferences, etc. There was not a quorum last spring to approve the form, however. Dr. Justitz re-presented the idea and explained how the new application form creates a standardized process with specific criteria for those seeking award money.
The awards committee that will review the applications will consist of Sterling Klein, who volunteered last spring, Dr. Justitz, and Trevor Magel. The committee thus consists of a member of history club, an advisor, and a Phi Alpha Theta member.
Jessica emphasized that in the event of a committee member requesting an award, someone would replace the sitting member to review the application. Suzanna volunteered to sit-in should this occur.
Trevor offered vote to approve form, Suzanna seconded. Passed 7-0.
Deadlines for Submission for awards: Fall submission deadline will be Oct. 15th. Spring deadline will be Feb. 15th. Submit to: Trevor Magel

This information will be added to the form.
How much to allocate for the awards?
Last spring, the 1st allocation was $600, but fundraising last year was lower than expected (about $300 between the two fundraisers). After discussion, the decision was made to set the funds available amount at $300 for the academic year. This amount can be re-evaluated in the spring term. Trevor moved, Jeff seconded. Suzanna clarifies the motion. Passed 7-0.
***A copy of the award form should be forwarded to Suzanne for her to post on the website.
Organization Fair
August 30th 10-2 PM
Membership drive:
Trevor, Emily, and Suzanna volunteered to make a brief announcement about the club in the history survey classes. Cassie, Suzanna, and Jeff will make announcements in upper level classes. The announcements should be made during the week of the picnic, so people have it fresh in their minds.
Picnic:
The picnic will be on a Thursday in September, likely either the 14th or 21st. Site will likely be Johnson Park. Time will likely be from 4-6. Need to get a grill.
Winter Banquet:
Jeff and Suzanna will start looking at a site, possibly Grazies. We hope to keep the price around $10/ticket (including meal, room fee, and gratuity – beverages and dessert extra). The banquet will be the first week in December/week before finals. We should reserve the room ASAP
Events:
Picnic – Sept. 14th or 21st
Movie (on-campus) – Oct.
Fundraiser (Book sale?) – Oct.
Other Announcements:
Dr. Iseminger, history professor at UND, spoke last spring at our banquet. He kindly donated his $100 speaker fee to the Germans from Russia Collection. Four books were bought for the collection, and these books will be available for viewing soon at the NDSU Germans from Russia Collection.
Next Meeting: TBA
