Whether tracing the rise of European nationalism in Vienna, witnessing globalization in action in Beijing, China, or mastering Spanish in Chile or Spain, student learning come alive when the world becomes the classroom. Students also meet people, have experiences, and make memories that remain with them long after they return home.
Study abroad programs allow students to experience another culture while receiving credit at NDSU. Opportunities are available in in Asia, Australia/the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America. Exchange programs let students pay NDSU tuition while attending partner institutions in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Cyprus, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
The results are clear: study abroad adds depth to on-campus coursework, improves students’ foreign language skills, allows students to develop new academic interests, forces students to challenge their assumptions about both foreign cultures and their own, and builds cross-cultural sensitivities and skills that are highly valued by future employers.
