Welcome

Dear Prospective Student,

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (HNES). Making a decision on where to attend college is a difficult one. I am sure you will not be disappointed if you chose to attend North Dakota State University. The Department of HNES currently offers undergraduate majors in Dietetics, Exercise Science, Health Education, Physical Education, and Sports and Recreation Leadership Studies. Our most recent employment report indicates an approximately 100% placement rate for our graduates.

Our laboratories are equipped with state of the art equipment and we are using cutting edge technology. A number of our faculty are engaged at the national level and provide name recognition to the program. Students in all of our programs take part in a number of field and practicum experiences and all seniors have an off-campus capstone experience in a setting of their choice prior to graduation.

The School Health Education option is a professional teaching preparation program designed primarily to meet the needs of those interested in a teaching career. It is recommended that students seeking a Health Education degree consider a double major in Physical Education.

Please check our program website for additional information!

Sincerely,

Brad N. Strand, Ph.D.
