Women's Week committee calls for proposals

The NDSU Women's Week committee is inviting all members of the campus community to submit educational session proposals for 2010 Women's Week, March 1-5. This year's them is "Women's Week 2010 Rebel Rebel."

During this year’s Women’s Week, organizers are focusing on women, ideas and actions that have forged a new path, a new way of thinking or are bucking the system to gain equality. "This is the time to celebrate women’s accomplishments and blaze new lines of thinking," says Kara Gravley-Stack, outreach coordinator and director of NDSU's Equity and Diversity Center.

Women’s Week is held every year to create awareness and celebrate women’s accomplishments. Paper and presentation sessions relevant to all topics encompassing women’s studies, gender studies and feminist studies will be considered. Presentations that address diversity in women’s lives (age, disability, gender identity, nation of origin, race, ethnicity, religion, faith, sexual orientation, social class and status as a veteran) are especially encouraged. Interdisciplinary research, upper-level student research and proposals for roundtable discussions are encouraged.

Proposals must include a brief summary of the session, abstracts of individual presentations and contact information for all presenters. Sessions should be no more than one hour in length. Submit a 500-word (maximum) proposal and include your name, institutional affiliation and a contact address or e-mail.

Presentations will be offered at noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Additional times can be arranged, as needed.

Submission by e-mail is preferred (as e-mail text or Word document). The deadline for proposals is Friday, Dec. 4. Send proposals or inquiries to Gravley-Stack at kara.gravley-stack@ndsu.edu.
