Process Laboratory - Manufacturing Capabilities

  • Machining geometric shapes
    • All geometric shapes except cylindrical; maximum size of all shapes - 10" wide (254mm) x 12" long (304.8mm) x 12" high (304.8mm)
    • Tolerance of all shapes: +/- .0005 (.0127mm)
    • Maximum surface finish of all shapes: 15RMS
    • Hardening, tempering, and annealing of most ferrous and non-ferrous parts are available on a production or prototype basis up to the maximum size dimensions shown above
    • Various finishing, plating and polishing techniques are also available
  • Machining - cylindrical shapes
    • Maximum size: 36" long (914.4mm) x 3" diameter (76.2mm)
    • Diameter Tolerance: +/- .0001" (.00254mm)
    • Length tolerance: +/- .010" (.254mm)
    • Maximum surface finish of cylindrical parts: 5 RMS
    • Hardening, tempering, and annealing of most ferrous and non-ferrous parts are available on a production or prototype basis up to the maximum size dimensions shown above
    • Various finishing, plating and polishing techniques are also available
  • Inspection Services
    • Facilities include an inspection room, a small manual Coordinate Measurement Machine and a small optical comparator
    • All measuring instruments are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • Fabricated Parts (including weldments)
    • Shear, Brake and welding operations must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but maximum machine sizes are about 36"
    • All welding operations are supported for prototype and production welding
