Dave is a Manufacturing Engineering Extension Specialist working for the department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at NDSU. The position is based out of the IDEA center business incubator in Bismarck, ND and programmatically tied to NDSU extension through NDSU center for community vitality.

After graduating with an Agricultural and Biosysytems Engineering degree from NDSU in 2000, David served the compact construction equipment industry as a manufacturing engineer in fabrication, weld, paint and assembly. He has international experience coming from a two year expatriate assignment in Pont Chateau, France as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager where he received an award for operational excellence from the fortune 500 company for implementing a moving assembly line which moved the operation to profitability. He also has experience benchmarking manufacturing facilities in Mexico, with additional management experience resulting from management of an E-coat/ powder coat operation. His background includes work with general manufacturing systems, robotics, lean sigma, coatings, ESH, regulatory compliance, operations management, project management, Sarbanes-Oxley, strategic planning, capital justification and implementation.

While working in industry, David acquired an MBA degree through UND, various continuous improvement certifications (lean and six sigma) and was a Dale Carnegie course graduate.

In 2009 Dale was hired by NDSU to help kick off the Manufacturing Engineering Extension Program. In this position, he provides outreach, resource materials and preliminary engineering assistance based on the needs of inventors, companies and organization across North Dakota. He coordinates the use of and access to NDSU campus resources for advance training, research and development. He also serves as a liason with key organizations supporting state manufacturing concerns. While at NDSU, he has helped to put on the Inventor's Bootcamp to educate regional inventors on the process of bringing their ideas to market.

Aside from his primary duties at NDSU, David serves as an executive Board member for the IDEA center business incubator in Bismarck, is a member of the Economic Development Association of North Dakota and a National Scholars Honor Society Member.
