REVIEW PROCESS

  • Northern Eclecta is an interdisciplinary journal that aims to promote creative expression in the written and visual arts. Its staff carefully reviews all materials that are submitted for possible publication.

  • All submissions are reviewed “blind”: the editors who read or view the submissions do not know the identity of the people who have submitted them. While members of the staff may submit their own materials for review, those materials are always reviewed by others who do not know who submitted them.

  • When a submission is sent to the NDSU.WriteStuff@ndsu.edu email address, it is received by our Submissions Editor. The Submissions Editor is charged with letting submitters know that their submissions have been received. She also provides copies of the submissions—without the names of the submitters—to the proper editorial groups for review.

  • Final selection of materials to be published will be based on the quality of the submission and how well it meets the staff’s vision for the current issue. Limitations on space in the new issue is also a consideration. In addition, an outside expert will be enlisted to help make final selections for the visual arts.

  • The editorial groups reviewing the NDSU submissions expect to have made their selections by March 14, and they will notify all submitters of acceptance (or non-acceptance) as soon as they have completed the process.

  • The editorial group for the high school writing contest expects to have made their selections by March 31, and they will notify all submitters of acceptance (or non-acceptance) as soon as they have completed the process.
