Phi Alpha Theta Event

This announcement from Dr. Justitz, faculty advisor to Phi Alpha Theta.

Fred Haring, Associate Professor Emeritus, Mathematics, will present "Remembering World War II: A Journey out of Java," at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, in the Prairie Room of the Memorial Union. Haring will discuss World War II in the Pacific and talk about his experiences as a Eurasian teenager who, caught up in this war, ultimately found his way to NDSU by way of The Netherlands. Haring taught in the Mathematics Department from 1962-1994. He also was one of the earliest organizers of the Governor's School in Mathematics.

Fred Haring's presentation is sponsored by the Department of History, the Department of Mathematics, The History Club, and Phi Alpha Theta (History Honor Society).

Essay Possibilities for Exam 2

If you were Alexis de Tocqueville, and I asked you, off the record, if Andrew Jackson was a good leader for a democracy, what would you tell me?

Tocqueville said there once were great political parties in the U.S., but no more. Knowing what you do about Federalists and the Republicans, were they, by Tocqueville's definition, great political parties?
