Text for the Course

There is only one required print text for the course: Tocqueville's Democracy in America. It's cheap and it's portable. Other readings all are web-based--see the study pages for individual lectures.

Please Pardon the Mess

The website for the course is undergoing extensive remodeling. All major pieces will be in place for the beginning of spring term. In the meantime, feel free to look around, but some materials are obsolete, and others are just messed up.

Beginning the Blog

This center panel of the home page for HIST 104 is a sort of a billboard for the course. Watch this space for announcements, assignments, and timely guidance.
